Catering Barn for two in the heart of West Cornwall
Rose Farm is a small working farm with a 300 year old granite farmhouse
in the tiny hamlet of Chyanhal which means ‘Place by the Moor’ in
Cornish. The self catering barn with its four poster bed is warm and
welcoming and the perfect place to unwind. It is set in the heart of the
countryside yet only a short distance away from stunning beaches,
coastal walks, excellent restaurants and friendly pubs; also many
tourist attractions including the amazing Minack Theatre on the cliffs
at Porthcurno.
Rose Farm itself is ancient, having its own ‘standing stones’ part of an
iron age encampment, with small fields and earth banks which are covered
in an array of wild flowers. The whole area is renowned for its healing
properties and there are many iron age sights and places of worship all
around West Cornwall.
Your host, Penny, breeds and shows Pedigree Simmental cattle which have
been successful at county shows as far as the Royal Show in
Warwickshire. Thoroughbred Horses bred at rose farm have also been
extremely successful both in showing and eventing. On the farm there are
also Pedigree Gloucester Old Spot Pigs, sheep, ducks, geese, hens,
Guinea fowl etc. Other residents are two cats ‘This One’ and ‘That One’,
a Jack Russell called ‘Myrtle’ a Labrador called ‘Madge’ also bred at
Rose Farm (and sometimes a litter of puppies!)
